Accessing Council Information
Some documents are publically available or for public inspection; while others can only be accessed under the Freedom of Information application process.
Documents Available to the Public for Public Inspection
Sometimes laws ensure that we make particular documents available to the public for a certain period. These include the Annual Budget, Meeting Agendas and Council Minutes, which we make available for a limited time. If the document(s) you are looking for are not online then you might find that they are available for public inspection.
We have compiled a list of Documents Available for Public Inspection, which contains the best person for you to contact to make arrangements to inspect the relevant documents.
Freedom of Information Application
If there are no particular law which require us to make the document(s) available to the public or available for public inspection, then you may be able to access the document(s) under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The Act gives every person a right to access our documents, except for exempt documents.
To access these documents complete a Freedom of Information application form, which must include the non-refundable prescribed current application fee of $24.40.
To avoid delays we highly recommend that you call our Freedom of Information Officer on 9249 4000 to discuss your requirements and to get some tips on how to complete form.
