The Hunt Club Community Arts Centre encourages lifelong learning and community participation in the arts. We offer classes for varying ages, stages and abilities. Class sizes are small and fees kept to a minimum. Fee discounts are available for concession card holders.

Abstract Art

Experiment with abstraction with a variety of mediums including painting and drawing, found objects and collage. Suitable for students with all levels of experience.

Brimbank Multicultural Choir

This is an ideal choir for singers wanting to take their informal community singing experience to the next level. An informal meeting to discuss membership requirements and voice placement will be required with the choir director.

Creative Poetry

What is a poem and how do you write one?  If you're ever been curious about poetry, this fun and engagingworkshop series will provide inspirationand guidance.  Find out what draws so many people to this creative and expressive form of writing.

Creative Writing Techniques

This short course explores various writing techniques that are utilised in all genres. Whether you’re a poet, a short story writer, a novelist or blogger, this course will give you the tools to make your writing vivid, immediate and engaging.

Introduction to Digital Filmaking

Learn everything you need to know to start making your own films; including directing, producing, lighting, sound, editing and camera use.  Participants work as a group to produce a short film entry for this year's halloween themed Sunshine Film Festival.
In partnership with Open Channel and Brimbank Readers and Writers Festival.

Introduction to Short Story Writing

A short story is a snapshot of life, its quirky bits, its madness, and unheard voices and should move readers with its truth. This course provides you with the techniques and the space to write short stories that will engage readers by using characterisation, dialogue, plot, voice and vivid writing.

Mentored Art Group

This course offers mentored studio time for intermediate to advanced artists. It provides the ideal environment for students to work at their own pace to develop existing skills with guidance and support from an experienced teaching artist.

Methods in Drawing

This course focuses on the exploration of drawing as a mode of discovery and creativity, explored through the core elements of drawing. Students will work with an expert tutor in a supportive environment with an emphasis on building confidence, developing drawing skills and practical guidance to those wishing to expand their techniques and material exploration. There will be two life drawing sessions within the course to introduce and explore figure drawing. Classes aim to provide a foundation of knowledge to students wishing to pursue their drawing skills further.

Mosaics and Ceramic Tiles

Mosaic is a simple and fun way to create colourful and decorative items for the home and garden. No special skills are needed, just imagination and patience. Mosaics can be personalised with the addition of handmade ceramic tiles and features.

Oil Painting

This course specialises in oil painting and is suitable for beginner to intermediate artists. Learn a variety of skills including blending, mixing colour, preparing canvases, brushes and composition.

Painting & Drawing for Beginner Artists

Learn the basic skills of drawing and painting in a supportive, encouraging and creative environment.  A variety of mediums will be demonstrated and made available for participants to try.

 Portraiture – understanding your head

Create a series of terrific self-portraits exploring a variety of media. Areas covered include skull structure, proportion, contour drawing, shading, warm and cool colours, rendering hair, hands, eyes, fabric and jewellery.

Specialising in camera control, digital workflow and post production.  Students will learn contemporary photographic practice, lighting principles, non-destructive image editingand file preparation for web and print outcomes.  Students are to supply their own digital camera and access to Adobe Photoshop is recommended.  Students supply their own equipment.

  • Wednesdays 23 July for eight sessions, 6.30-9.30pm

Experiment with various pottery techniques such as hand building and wheel throwing with guidance from an experienced teaching artist. This class is suitable for those wanting to try pottery for the first time and those who would like to build upon existing skills.

Pottery and Mosaics

This relaxing course provides the time and expert tuition in our purpose built studio to create colourful, decorative and functional artworks. Returning students will have the scope to work at their own pace on their own ideas and projects.

  • Mondays 21 July for seven sessions, 12noon-3pm
  • Tuesdays 22 July for seven sessions, 12noon-3pm
  • $169/$134 concession (includes basic materials, extra clay to be purchased by student)

Raku Firing Workshop

Raku is a firing technique.  It involves heating glazed ware to very high temperatures and then utilising a secondary reduction atmosphere.  The technique produces beautiful colours, lustre and patterns.  This one day workshop introduces the raku firing process with fired work ready to take home on the day.

  • Wednesdays 17 September, 10am-3pm
  • $145/$110 concession (Glaze materials provided, BYO bisque fired items)

 Watercolour Painting

Learn a variety of traditional watercolour painting techniques to produce a series of paintings suitable for framing. These classes are designed to be relaxing and accommodate both beginner and intermediate abilities.

Writing Group

Looking for a supportive environment to develop your writing? Whether you write fiction, creative non-fiction, crime or fantasy, this group will provide you with a unique perspective on writing and give you the tools to analyse your work and those of others in a constructive manner.

  • Thursdays 24 July for fivr fortnightly sessions, 6.30pm-9pm
  • $83/$77 concession
