Hampshire Square
Brimbank City Council is pleased to advise that Hampshire Square was completed and opened for public access on 15 December 2011.
Council recognises the significance of Christmas trading for businesses and the importance of finishing this project on time. Construction of Hampshire Square commenced in May this year and has taken just over seven months to complete and is on budget.
Council thanks local businesses, particularly Sunshine Plaza and its tenants and the community for their patience throughout the construction phase. While every effort was made to minimise disruption Council appreciates that at times there was inconvenience created as traffic and pedestrians were redirected around the site.
Construction of Hampshire Square is part of Brimbank City Council’s Sunshine Rising program to revitalise the Sunshine Town Centre. Hampshire Square delivers a high quality public space where the community can meet and relax, improves pedestrian access and safety across Hampshire Road, integrates public transport, and provides a significant gateway entrance to the Centre.
Construction of the first stage cost $3.2 million and was funded by Brimbank City Council, the Department of Planning and Community Development and Sunshine Plaza.
A public launch will be organised in early 2012 to celebrate completion of the project.
