Australia Day in Brimbank will be celebrated with a special citizenship ceremony and afternoon of entertainment at Kevin Wheelahan Gardens in Sunshine and the community is invited to be part of the fun.

One hundred and eighty conferees will take the pledge to become Australian citizens on the day before an afternoon of entertainment kicks off.

A family barbecue and entertainment program will be held from 2-5pm at no charge.

The afternoon’s entertainment will focus on families and young people with performances featuring Ladyfingers DJ Collective, Ashanti Africa and Members of Royalty supported by dance crews performing rap, hip hop, R&B and African rhythms. Young people who want to step up to the spotlight can rap on stage between acts with local DJs spinning the hottest tracks.

The Australia Day citizenship ceremony will be held at Kevin Wheelahan Gardens, Devonshire Road, Sunshine, from 10am to 12noon on Thursday 26 January 2012.

This will be followed by a Brimbank Australia Day family barbecue and entertainment program from 2-5pm.
