Lost and Found Pets

Reporting a lost or found dog or cat

If you have lost your pet you can ring us on 9249 4000 and provide the following information:

  • Your name, address, telephone and the registration number
  • Has your pet been micro-chipped?
  • Description of your pet including any distinguishing marks or colours
  • Is the animal wearing a collar and registration tags and
  • Your pet’s name and age.

What can I do to find my pet?

  • Search your property and check with your neighbours
  • Check your local area
  • Call our Lost Animal Hotline on 9249 4502
  • Call all neighbouring councils (see below)
  • Call local vets
  • Contact the Lost Dogs' Home 9329 2755 and
  • Advertise with flyers and signs around the neighbourhood.

Animal Accident & Emergency

If yours, or someone else’s pet is sick or injured, an after hours animal accident emergency service is now available.

The 24-hr facility is located at the Main Terminal at the Essendon Airport and you can contact them via their Animal Accident and Emergency website or on 9379 0700.

If you find or sight a stray, injured or wandering animal, please contact Council on 9249 4000.
