Council is transforming its open space to create one of the best park networks in Melbourne. Under our Creating Better Parks strategy, we’ve spent more than $12 million over the past 4 years, upgrading nearly 60 parks and constructing over eleven kilometres of shared trails.

The transformation of our parks is crucial to creating attractive, safe and sustainable neighbourhoods, which support community wellbeing and strong connections between residents. Our parks are places where we can walk the dog, throw a ball, play, share a barbecue or picnic and catch up with neighbours and friends – or just sit and contemplate the mysteries of the universe.
