Our website has been designed to meet our community's accessibility needs. We have implemented features and conventions to ensure our residents can view our information easily.  We strive to ensure the site is W3C Level AA compliant.  With the addition of the Userway widget, we also hope to assist all visitors to the site to find and interact with the information that suits their needs and circumstances.

The Userway widget provides a wide range of features that make it easier for all users, including those with disabilities, to navigate and interact with the website content. Here are some key features of the Userway widget:

  1. Accessibility options: The widget offers several accessibility options, such as adjustable font sizes, colour contrast adjustments, and customizable text spacing. These features enable users with visual impairments or reading difficulties to comfortably access the website's content.
  2. Screen reader compatibility: The widget seamlessly integrates with screen reader software, ensuring that visually impaired users can effortlessly navigate the website by listening to the screen reader's audio output.
  3. Keyboard navigation: Userway enhances keyboard navigation by providing a skip-to-content option, allowing users to jump directly to the main content without having to navigate through menus or unnecessary elements.
  4. Text-to-speech functionality: This feature converts the website's text content into spoken words, enabling users with reading difficulties or visual impairments to listen to the website's information.
  5. Adjustable cursor size and colour: The widget allows users to customize the cursor size and colour, making it easier for individuals with visual impairments or cognitive challenges to locate and interact with on-screen elements.
  6. Language translation: Userway supports language translation, allowing users to easily translate the website's content into their preferred language, improving accessibility for non-native speakers. We also recommend visiting www.languages.brimbank.vic.gov.au for translated information about Council services.

Unfortunately, sometimes material is added to the website that is not as accessible as we would all like.  If you experience issues with website accessibility please email: digital@brimbank.vic.gov.au.
