
The global ecological and climate emergency is mobilising communities everywhere. Many people, including Brimbank residents, are speaking up to demand urgent action.
Our Climate Emergency Plan (PDF 1.3MB) released in 2020, outlined our position statement on the climate emergency. It aimed to orientate social transformation with Council taking a municipal leadership role.
Climate Emergency Plan now complete
The delivery of the Climate Emergency Plan 2020-2025 is now complete. The Climate Emergency Plan Report details our progress to achieving our objectives and actions over the years 2020-2025.

The report shows which actions were completed, partially completed, not completed and why. We’re proud to report that 52 of the 64 actions we committed to in the Plan have been completed! Other highlights in the report include:
- The build of Australia’s first 100 per cent renewable energy operated, 6-star Green Star Design and As-Built rated aquatic centre.
- Use of 100 per cent renewable electricity in Council buildings - sourced from Victorian wind farms.
- Rooftop solar panels installed on 48 Council buildings.
- Use of energy-efficient LEDs in street lights.
