What is the Sunshine CBD Partnership Group?

The Sunshine CBD Partnership Group provides a regular forum for Council, businesses, property owners, government agencies, institutions and community representatives to come together to discuss matters affecting the Sunshine CBD. Established in 2011, the group supports information sharing, collaboration and discussion about how the centre is performing and evolving.

As Sunshine continues to experience significant investment, development and growth, the Partnership Group plays an important role in providing strategic advice, insights and perspectives to enhance coordination and collaboration. The group supports a shared understanding of opportunities, challenges and major projects shaping the CBD, and helps inform Council’s approach to the management, renewal and transformation of Sunshine.

What does the group do?

The Partnership Group is an advisory committee to Brimbank City Council. Its role is to foster collaboration and information sharing between Council, State Government agencies, businesses, property owners, institutions and community stakeholders.

It provides a forum to discuss the performance, function and experience of the Sunshine CBD, including matters such as economic vitality, safety, amenity, access, activation and investment. The group also helps inform Council’s advocacy on major infrastructure, planning and development initiatives, and provides advice and feedback on the implementation of the Sunshine Rising Place Management Framework.

Why it matters

Sunshine is entering a period of significant change, with major transport investment, large-scale development activity and evolving policy settings shaping its future. In this context, strong partnerships and effective governance are essential to ensure coordination, stakeholder engagement and informed discussion about the future of the centre.

The Partnership Group brings together diverse perspectives so that Council and stakeholders can better respond to change, support economic vitality, and strengthen community life in the Sunshine CBD.

Membership

The Partnership Group includes representatives from Council, State Government and other agencies, business and property interests, major institutions, and community and community service organisations, together with an independent Chair. Membership is designed to reflect the diversity of interests and perspectives connected to the Sunshine CBD.

Meetings

The Partnership Group meets quarterly, or as otherwise agreed by the Chair. Meetings are generally held during business hours and are supported by Council, which provides administrative support including agendas, minutes and coordination.

Advisory role

The Partnership Group acts in an advisory capacity to Brimbank City Council. It provides advice, input and feedback through Council governance processes, but does not have authority to commit Council to decisions or direct Council officers in their duties.
