Brimbank Planning Scheme Amendment C126 Part 2

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 20 June Council resolved to adopt modified amendment C126 Part 2 and submit it to the Minister for Planning’s approval.

Amendment C126 Part 2 affects 6-18 Alexandra Avenue, Sunshine, and is part of the former Sunshine Municipal Precinct.

The Amendment will:

  • Rezone the land from the Public Use Zone – Local Government (PUZ6) to the General Residential Zone 1 (GRZ1);
  • Apply the Significant Landscape Overlay Schedule 2 (SLO2) to part of the site; and
  • Apply the Environmental Audit Overlay (EAO).

Council modified the Amendment to remove part of the garden area near the flag poles on Alexandra Avenue, which will be retained in Council ownership. The garden area will provide an appropriate setting for, and views to, the mosaic window and the entry to the former municipal offices. It recognises that the garden area has some cultural significance.

When the Minister for Planning approves the Amendment it will be incorporated into the Brimbank Planning Scheme.
