Work Experience

Work experience placements are for secondary school students (Year 10) who live or study in Brimbank.

Due to legislative requirements, work experience students must be 15 years and over.

Placements are for one week (five days), and are paid $10 per day in accordance with the Victoria Work Experience Arrangement.

Libraries and Learning

Only limited places are available. If you want to do work experience at one of our libraries, contact your local library, speak to the library Team Leader and submit an application form below.

Brimbank Leisure Centres

If you’re interested in Health and Fitness, Aquatics, Customer Service and Facility Operations Council’s Leisure Centres offer work experience in a diverse, fun and energetic environment. To be considered for a work experience placement please submit your application via the form on this page.

If you would like to know more about becoming a Swimming Teacher visit our Leisure Centre's website.

Tertiary Placements

Tertiary placements are for students completing a current tertiary course and are relevant to that course. They're unpaid and can be project or time based.

To apply for a tertiary placement with us you must:

  • be enrolled at a registered educational institution; and
  • provide current insurance coverage (certificate of currency) from your institution, covering the duration your placement.

Priority will be given to people who live or study in Brimbank.

If we have spaces available, we’ll contact you with details of your placement.

COVID Requirements

All students who wish to undertake a work experience or tertiary placement with Brimbank City Council must be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine (two doses for students under 18 years or age, three doses for students 18 years or over), or have a valid medical exemption in the form of a COVID-19 digital certificate issued by Service Victoria.
