Work Experience and Tertiary Placement

We offer a number of work experience, tertiary, and engineering placements each year.

Work Experience

Work Experience Applications for the 2018/19 financial year are now closed. We're currently accepting applications for the 2019/20 financial year.

Work experience placements are for secondary school students (Year 10) who live or study in Brimbank.

Due to legislative requirements, work experience students must be 15 years and over.

Placements are for one week (five days), and are paid a minimum of $10 per day in accordance with the Victoria Work Experience Arrangement.

Libraries and Learning

Only limited places are available. If you want to do work experience at one of our libraries, contact your local library,  speak to the library Team Leader, and submit an application.

Tertiary Placements

Tertiary placements are for students completing a current tertiary course and are relevant to that course. They're unpaid and can be project or time based.

To apply for a tertiary placement with us you must:

  • be enrolled at a registered educational institution; and
  • provide current insurance coverage (certificate of currency) from your institution, covering the duration your placement.

Priority will be given to people who live or study in Brimbank.

If we have spaces available, we’ll contact you with details of your placement.

Engineering Student Placements

Our Engineering Services team has a yearly work placement. It's advertised on our e-recruit website every September/October.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed. One placement is open to students who are undertaking a minimum second year degree in Civil Engineering.

The program involves paid full time employment for 12 weeks between November and February. Unfortunately, we're unable to take volunteers.

Apply for engineering student placements online via on our e-recruit website every September/October.
