Head Lice Control

Need help with head lice? We have a team of people who can help carry out checks or provide advice on how to combat these critters.

Head lice are common in young children, especially at primary school. Head lice move between heads without discrimination, and anyone can become infested – including adults.

If you believe that your child has picked up head lice from school, please contact the school to make them aware, so that they can investigate and manage the issue.

You can buy lotions and shampoos to treat head lice at some supermakets and local pharmacies. Follow the directions on the bottle. Once the lice are treated, it’s important to go through the hair with a fine tooth comb to remove any eggs. This minimises the chance of re-infestation.

Our Environmental Health Officers are also available to carry out head lice checks - just get in touch to make an appointment.
