Sustainability at Home

Getting outside and enjoying our environment is harder during the COVID-19 health emergency. But there are many environmental activities that you can do in isolation, in your home and backyard!

The Environment Team will continue to support our community in home food production, gardening, composting, waste reduction and other environmental efforts during this time. We will be producing and sharing online events, resources, tips and ideas for people of all ages!

It will include:

  • Environmental (low resource) activities for families to do at home around the theme of “Biodiversity in Your Backyard” with three themes over three months: birds, insects and habitat gardening.
  • Get some great tips and online resources to improve your garden through the My Smart Garden program
  • Updates on upcoming Sustainability at Home initiatives will be provided through our Little Leaflet e-newsletter and Council’s Facebook page
  • Brimbank’s Home Composting Program now not only offers a one-off $50 rebate on a compost bin or worm farm but free delivery during the month of April.
