Spend an evening up close and personal with one of Australia’s most significant playwrights, Hannie Rayson.
Born in Melbourne, Hannie first found success with her play Hotel Sorrento for which she has since won several prestigious awards. It is now considered an Australian classic, and is studied as part of university courses and high school syllabus across the country.
Her recent works include Falling from Grace, Scenes from a Separation (written with Andrew Bovell), Competitive Tenderness, Life After George, Extinction and Two Brothers.
In 1996, Hannie won the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award. She has also won the Victorian and New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards and the Helpmann Award for Best New Australian Work and is also the only playwright to have been nominated for the Miles Franklin Award for Life After George.
In 2015, Hannie published her best-selling memoir Hello, Beautiful! from which this evening at the Bowery Theatre is based on.
The show is a warm, funny and self-effacing look at Hannie’s life, as told by Hannie herself. From her upbringing in East Brighton, to her travels, she tells compelling stories of seeking out the extraordinary in every day moments.
To cap off the evening, Hannie will conduct a Q&A and book signing session.
