Council received a community petition in June 2019 requesting Council declare a climate emergency and undertake a range of actions to address this concern.
In response to a Resolution of Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 June 2019, Council officers have prepared the draft Brimbank Climate Emergency Plan.
The Plan includes a position statement and five 'themes for action'.
- Download the Draft Brimbank Climate Emergency Plan
Council's Plan recognises that urgent action is required by everyone to bring the level of greenhouse gas emission reductions into accordance with the targets set by nations in Paris in 2015 - the Paris Agreement. Action is required at ‘scale and speed’ to avert disaster.
The scope of the draft Plan is for the whole municipality. Community comment is invited in respect to all aspects of the Plan.
We want to hear what you can do to help lead the transition to a prosperous future with a safe climate.
