Introduction of new parking technology
We are trialing the introduction of licence plate recognition technology to support parking compliance in activity centres.
This new technology replaces chalk tyre marking. Instead, digital chalking will be done via technology fitted to a Council marked vehicle.
It can detect cars that have overstayed within the same parking area with a high level of accuracy.
There have been no changes to parking restriction times or compliance requirements. This will just allow more accurate detection.
