From July 2027, there are changes coming to your bins. Find out what's changing and why.
Your general rubbish bin (red lid for new bins or dark green lid for older bins) is for:
- Household rubbish
- Animal waste
- Non-recyclable plastics
Please wrap or bag your rubbish before putting it in your kerbside bin.
Collected: Weekly.
Rubbish in this bin goes to landfill. Material that can be reused, recycled, or composted should not go in this bin. This bin is for household rubbish that cannot be reused, recycled or composted.
Your bin cannot weigh more than 70 kg, and the bin lid must be closed and not overflowing. Otherwise, the truck will not be able to collect your bin.
You must bring your bin in on the same day it is emptied.
The following items CANNOT go into the general rubbish bin:
- Batteries
- E-waste (e.g. toasters, kettles, laptops, electric toothbrushes)
- Chemicals
- Hot ash or liquids
- Construction materials, soil or rocks
