Sunshine Secondary College Deaf Facility

Facility for Deaf Students
Provides full mainstream secondary school education for deaf and hearing impaired children and young people in Years 7 to 12 including the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the TAFE Vocational and Educational Training (VET) Program.
Cost To Clients: Nil.
Availability: Students are integrated into their courses with support from teachers of the deaf and/or interpreters. Students use their chosen method of communication, oral/ aural, Auslan or signed English.
The curriculum and facilities include timetabled classes and tutorials in language development, a deaf studies program for young people in Years 7 to 10, contact with the deaf community, an elective speech program conducted by a qualified speech pathologist, a captioned video library and telephone typewriters for loan. Students also have access to computer facilities including the internet and email service.
