With illegal dumping of rubbish becoming a serious and growing problem in Brimbank, putting a stop to rubbish dumping is an urgent priority for Council.
Over the coming months, Brimbank Council will deliver a comprehensive action plan to tackle the issue and keep Brimbank clean and beautiful.
What will Council do
Council will introduce tighter controls, stronger deterrents and tougher enforcement measures.
Council will also run community-wide information and education programs, to make it easier for everyone to dispose of waste responsibly and to report illegal dumping.
More information on the crack down on illegal rubbish dumping will be available soon on Council’s website and social media channels.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Thuy Dang said: “We know that rubbish dumping is a growing problem in our city and putting a stop to this is an urgent priority for Council.
“It’s illegal, it’s ugly, it’s hurting our environment - and it costs Council and ratepayers to clean it up.
“We know our community is frustrated and wants to see more done to keep Brimbank clean and beautiful.
“Council will soon roll out a comprehensive action plan to tackle this rubbish issue.
“You’ll see this in action over the coming months as we crack down with stronger controls, deterrents, and enforcement measures against dumping. We’ll also run community education and information programs to make it easier to dispose of waste responsibly and to report illegal dumping.
“Keeping our streets clean is a whole of community effort, and we are grateful to everyone who does the right thing and disposes of waste responsibly. Thank you also to everyone who helps identify and report illegally dumped rubbish using the Report it tool on Council’s website.
