National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be rolled out in Brimbank from October 2018. It will provide eligible people with more flexible choice and control in how they receive required support.

To help with the transition, the NDIA will facilitate workshops to provide information and guidelines in accessing the scheme.

Who Can Access the NDIS?

To see if you are eligible for the NDIS, visit the Am I eligible page where you will find an NDIS checklist.

If you meet the criteria and you would like to become a participant, call the National Disability Insurance Agency on 1800 800 110 and ask to make an Access Request.

Accessing the NDIS

If you're currently getting support from the State Government (such as an individual support package, attending facility-based respite, or accessing early childhood intervention services) you'll be contacted by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

If you're not currently getting disability support from the State Government, you can contact NDIA on 1800 800 110 between 8am and 5pm to find out more.

Local Area Coordination

For most people aged 7 and above, a Local Area Coordinator (LAC), will be your main contact point for the NDIS.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is the Partner delivering LAC services in Brimbank/Melton.

For further information visit the Brotherhood of St Laurence website or call 1300 BSL NDIS (1300 275 634).

NDIS Readiness

The Victorian Government has announced an additional $10 million in funding to 22 organisations to deliver NDIS readiness activities where they're needed most.

These include organisations representing people with a disability, their families, service providers, and disability service supports.

The organisations will deliver practical and targeted resources, including online information, workshops and information sessions to help people and providers adapt to the way the NDIS will work.
