Thinking about getting your kids active this summer? The application period for In2Sport, Brimbank’s sport subsidy program, is opening soon, so there’s no better time than now!
A priority application period for females, first time applicants and people with a disability opens Monday 19 August 2019.
Applications for all other applicants open on 16 September 2019.
Under In2Sport, children aged between six and 18 years are eligible to apply for up to $200 financial assistance (up to 75 per cent of the membership cost) to contribute to club membership fees at participating Brimbank sports clubs.
To be eligible they must live in Brimbank with their name listed on a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card.
Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve, encouraged interested community members to apply for the program, and take advantage of the priority application period.
“In2Sport has been running since 2013 and in that time has supported more than 1500 young people to get active and involved in local sport.
“Participating in local sport not only benefits your health and wellbeing, but it helps create community connections as well.
“I encourage all families out there with kids who have been thinking about joining a local sports club - and who meet the In2Sport criteria - to apply. We’re all very busy, but participating in sport is fun for children, and can be great for the whole family,” Cr Congreve said.
This application period of the 2019/20 program will consider applications for participation in summer and year round sports, including: cricket, little athletics, baseball, softball, tennis, badminton, basketball, martial arts, netball, swimming (squad), table tennis and volleyball.
The subsidy for successful applicants is passed on directly to participating sports clubs through Brimbank City Council.
The application period will remain open to all eligible applicants until program funding becomes exhausted.
To apply, simply fill out an application form online at In2Sport or pick up a copy of the form at a Brimbank leisure centre, library or customer service centre. Submit it to Brimbank City Council along with a copy of your family’s health care or pension card.
