It’s time to put in Winter 2019 applications for Brimbank’s sports membership subsidy program, In2Sport Brimbank.
A priority application period for females, first time applicants, and people with disability opens Monday 21 January 2019.
Applications for everyone else open on 18 February 2019.
Under In2Sport, children aged between six and 18 years are eligible to apply for up to $200 financial assistance (up to 75 per cent of the membership cost) to contribute to club membership fees at participating Brimbank sports clubs.
To be eligible they must live in Brimbank with their name listed on a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card.
Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve, encouraged interested community members to apply for the program, especially those who are eligible to apply during the priority application period.
“In2Sport has been hugely successful since being introduced in 2013. We’ve supported more than 1500 young people to get involved in local sport over the years, and we want to continue to do so.
“I encourage all families out there with kids who want to join a local sports club - and who meet the In2Sport criteria - to apply.
“Being physically active is so important. Not only does it help you to stay fit and healthy, but it also helps with creating connections in the community, and it’s great for mental health as well,” Cr Congreve said.
This application period of the 2018/2019 program will consider applications for participation in winter and year round sports, including: soccer; AFL football; rugby union; rugby league; tennis; netball; basketball; volleyball; and badminton.
The subsidy for successful applicants is passed on directly to participating sports clubs through Brimbank City Council.
To apply, simply fill out an application form and submit it to Brimbank City Council along with a copy of your family’s health care or pension card.
