Proposed Major Policy Consultation
Community feedback is invited on the Draft Community Services and Infrastructure Planning Policy (“Draft Policy”) and the proposal to make the policy a ‘Major Policy’.
The Draft Policy provides rationale as to how Council plans, provides and maintains community services and infrastructure in ways that are both effective and equitable.
The aim of the Draft Policy is to outline Council’s guiding principles and commitments that inform the planning and delivery of community services and infrastructure that respond to identified and emerging needs both now and in the future.
Making the Draft Community Services and Infrastructure Planning Policy a Major Policy Council proposes to make the Draft Policy a ‘Major Policy’ under Council’s Governance (Major Policy Consultation) Local Law No. 3 (“Local Law”).
The Local Law sets out a public consultation process to be followed when the Council proposes to make, amend, modify or revoke a ‘major policy’. The Local Law aims to promote transparency of decision-making and best practice for governance processes.
Nature, Purpose and Rationale
The Draft Policy is proposed to be made as a Major Policy, as it provides a transparent and accountable policy that clearly outlines guiding principles and the approach to planning and delivery of community services and infrastructure.
