Media Release - Council adopts amended Community Services and Infrastructure Planning Major Policy

Council has adopted its amended draft of the Community Services and Infrastructure Planning Major Policy at the December Council meeting, held on 14 December 2021.

The aim of this Major Policy is to outline Council’s guiding principles and commitments that inform the planning and delivery of community services and infrastructure, which respond to identified and emerging needs both now and in the future.

The amended policy included minor changes after receiving community feedback during an open consultation period from 23 August – 20 September 2021.

After reviewing the feedback received during the community consultation period, and completing a further internal review, the following changes have been made to the final draft:

  • Reference to environmental sustainability and heritage included in Section 3.2 d - Guiding Principles
  • Alignment to Brimbank Planning Scheme reference included in Section 4.3 - Framework for Assessing Community Infrastructure Needs
  • Whole of project life cost benefit added into Value for Money criteria in Section 4.3 - Framework for Assessing Community Infrastructure Needs.
