Media release - Grant applications open for Brimbank Community Fund

Grant applications are now open for the Brimbank Community Fund.

This fund exists to support Brimbank’s most vulnerable residents through grassroots solutions. It is guided by an independent committee of voluntary local leaders supported by Council and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundations.

Brimbank Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou said she hoped local community groups would take advantage of this opportunity to boost support in areas ranging from education, employment and supporting young people and families.

‘Since its inception in 2009, the Brimbank Community Fund has provided grants to some important grassroots programs helping some of the community’s most vulnerable,’ Cr Papafotiou said.

‘Brimbank is a resilient, fair and connected municipality, but there are significant pockets of social disadvantage in our community and this global health crisis will unfairly hit them hard.

‘This grant is for those community-minded groups with inspired and innovative ideas to support our community.’

In 2020 the grants will focus on:

  • Improving the education, employment and wellbeing of Brimbank’s young people (up to 25 years old)
  • Improving services and support that specifically address mental health issues within the Brimbank community
  • Providing practical support to those experiencing domestic violence within the Brimbank community, with a view to self-empowerment

Grants of up to $10,000 for a single year project or $10,000 per year for three years for a multi-year project. Applications close 25 September 2020.
