The Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems in Public Places Policy provides direction and guidance to Council and officers when considering the introduction of a CCTV System in public places. The development of the policy is an action listed in the Community Safety Framework and Action Plan 2012-2015.
The objectives of this policy are:
- To outline the specific requirements in which the implementation of CCTV Systems in public places may be considered;
- To ensure any CCTV Systems in public places implemented are compliant with relevant legislation and other statutory requirements.
Community safety involves the whole community taking action to reduce and prevent injuries to promote a safe and healthy community.
We support this through the Community Safety Framework and Action Plan 2012-2015 that guides our approach to enhancing Brimbank's safety.
We implement community safety through
- planning and regulation;
- policy development;
- service delivery;
- maintenance and design of public places; and
- through community engagement and partnerships.
