Councillor Expenses

Councillors are provided resources and support so they can serve, engage and act in the community's best interests. Council may

  • make available, or pay, for resources;
  • pay for resources claimed as ‘out of pocket’ expenses.

The State Government sets the minimum levels of civic and resource support for Councillors in a

  • Policy Statement on Local Government Mayoral and Councillor Allowances; and
  • the Information Guide for Mayor and Councillor Entitlements.

Expense Reporting

Section 11.1 of the Councillor Code of Conduct Major Policy (Code) requires a report of quarterly, and annual cumulative details, of individual Councillor support expenses to be presented to an open session of an Ordinary Council Meeting.

Support expenses are reported in the Governance Report in February, May, August and November each year.

In accordance with the Code, support expenses are available for the term of the current Council.
