The management of infrastructure assets is complex and impinges in many areas of responsibilities and operations. At a fundamental level, the goal of asset management is to provide safe, efficient and reliable services to the community.
The Integrated Asset Management Strategy 2014 - 2024 covers eight principles, each one providing clear outcomes, key actions and performance measures, that when combined, will help ensure the realisation of this vision. These are:
- Stakeholder engagement;
- Planning and budgeting;
- Operations and maintenance;
- Risk management;
- Accounting and costing;
- Governance and
- Continuous improvement.
Brimbank is responsible for the management of around $1.6 billion worth of infrastructure assets built over many decades and supporting the delivery of a wide range of important council services for our community of around 200,000 people.
Population growth, rising customer expectations, competing demands for funding and an increasingly demanding external regulatory environment means that good asset management practices is now more relevant than ever.
