New sportsground lighting on Keilor Park Reserve Ovals 2 and 4 is expected to significantly increase participation in multiple sports including football, soccer and cricket at the site.
The new lights will also allow the ground to be used to its full potential at night for sports or community use.
The 100 lux lights meet the Australian competition standards for Soccer and Australian Rules. The lights are LED and environmentally friendly.
Before this project, only one of the five ovals on site had lights. Having three lit ovals now available, helps meet the football and soccer clubs’ need for more lights onsite to cater for demand.
Keilor Park Reserve is home to a variety of clubs including football, cricket, tennis, softball, athletics, soccer and the Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium. The facilities include five ovals, three soccer pitches, two synthetic fields, four softball diamonds, four tennis courts, six basketball courts and an athletics track.
This project adds to the quality of facilities onsite and ensure the reserves continues to be a leader for sports participation for the community.
The total cost of the project was $954,148. Council contributed $704,148 to the project and received $250,000 from State Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund 2021.
