The Councillor Support Major Policy 2020 (PDF, 162KB) provides an overview of how the Council can provide assistance and support to the Mayor and Councillors when conducting council business. The policy recognises the support Councillors require to serve, engage and act in the best interests of the community.
Council may:
- make available, or pay, for resources;
- pay for resources claimed as ‘out of pocket’ expenses.
The State Government sets the minimum levels of civic and resource support for Councillors in a
- Policy Statement on Local Government Mayoral and Councillor Allowances; and
- the Information Guide for Mayor and Councillor Entitlements.
Expense reporting
Council reports quarterly, and annual cumulative details, of individual Councillor support expenses to an open session of a Council Meeting.
Support expenses are available for the term of the current Council.
