Maternal and Child Health

If you are a first time parent with a baby aged about 6 weeks to 4 months old you are invited to join one of our groups where you can get support and meet other new parents.

 All first-time parents using Brimbank MCH services will receive an invitation to a group.

• Register if you are a new parent of a 6 week to 4 months old and are interested in joining a group.

Brimbank City Council is pleased to offer a free Breastfeeding Support Service at our Deer Park facility.

Families with babies up to 12 months of age can access personalised, one-on-one breastfeeding support in a welcoming environment.

Sessions are available every Tuesday at our Deer Park location, by appointment only, and require a referral by your Maternal and Child Health Nurse. Once your referral has been reviewed, we will contact you to arrange an appointment.

We offer a range of playgroups are for babies, toddlers and preschool children and their parents or carers. Visit our playgroups to learn more about this service.  

We have partnered with Dads Group to provide support for fathers and families.  Join an online or in-person group and access other useful resources.

The Victorian Government offers a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 13 22 29 to discuss your concerns with a qualified maternal and child health nurse, including:

• child health and nutrition
• breastfeeding
• your own health and
• any parenting issues.

The Maternal and Child Health App is no longer available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

No further updates, enhancements or bug fixes will be released for the app.

Existing users can continue to access the app on devices where it is already installed; however, families are encouraged to transition to the Parent Portal to access the latest information, resources and support.

Families who wish to retain records previously entered into the Maternal and Child Health App can:

• Download their child’s growth and milestone information from the MCH App.
• Create a child profile in the Parent Portal and manually enter this information.

Families can access extensive online resources and a digital version of My Health, Learning and Development Book, commonly called the Green Book through the Service Victoria Parent Portal.
