13 September 2024 - While Brimbank City Council is disappointed with the Federal Government’s decision to approve the Third Runway without first having commissioned an independent health impact assessment, we note that some important conditions have been imposed to help protect communities from aircraft noise.

Major fire in Derrimut factory – statement from the Deputy Mayor Cr Jae Papalia

The City of Brimbank is grateful for all the efforts by Fire Rescue Victoria and VicPol over the last two days in responding to a significant factory fire in Derrimut which occurred on Wednesday, 10 July. Thanks to the hard work of all involved, the fire has been extinguished and we have been advised by the relevant agencies that it now poses no risk to the community. Clean-up activities are underway.

Brimbank City Council has adopted the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2024-26, a strategic document that outlines priority actions and deliverables expected under the Reconciliation Australia RAP Framework and those unique to Brimbank’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and Elders and Brimbank Council. The RAP guides how Council will work with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Traditional Custodians.

Brimbank’s annual budget and action plan adopted

Brimbank Council’s Year 4 Council Plan Action Plan 2024-2025, the Financial Plan 2024-2034 and Annual Budget 2024-25 have been adopted following extensive community consultation.

These key strategic documents outline Council’s ongoing commitment to delivering our vision for Brimbank that strives towards a ‘beautiful, thriving, healthy and connected community.’ 

Changes to aged care assessment services

There are a number of changes being made to aged care services across the country as part of the Commonwealth aged care reforms.  

Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic said Brimbank City Council is committed to supporting older residents to find where they need to go to get support.
