Brimbank City Council has adopted the Lifelong Learning Strategy 2024-2029.
The Lifelong Learning Strategy is a long-term guide for Council and its partners, aimed at improving the social and economic outcomes of individuals and the community.
For the first time, Council based consultation on the strategy on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) major building blocks for a learning city, a world-recognised framework for lifelong learning.
Brimbank City Council’s Lifelong Learning Strategy 2024-2029 will encourage and support residents in their learning journey over their lifetime.
There are priorities related to five distinct life stages:
- birth to compulsory school age
- compulsory school age 6-16
- 17 to early adulthood
- 25 - 60 year
- 60 years and older.
Brimbank City Council developed its first Community Learning Strategy in 2010 to highlight the importance of learning. Council listened to community feedback to improve the 2014-2017 and 2018-2023 strategies and has built on the successes of the earlier strategies.
