Media release - Have your say on the Draft Community Engagement Policy

Brimbank Council is seeking feedback on the Draft Community Engagement Policy as part of its commitment to improving the way we engage with the community.

The draft policy will guide Brimbank’s approach to genuine and effective community engagement with residents and other stakeholders.

Community engagement is a key priority for Council, and an important process to making sure the voices of our community are heard, and considered when making decisions in the delivery of Council services.

The draft policy highlights Council’s commitment to transparent and accessible engagement with the community, ensuring diverse communities are engaged and working together to build community trust in decision-making.

The draft policy has been informed by State Government legislation, benchmarking with other Councils, and consultation workshops with internal and external stakeholders.

The consultation will open in early 2024. For more information and to have your say visit www.yoursay.brimbank.vic.gov.au.

Quotes to be attributed to Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic:

“We’re committed to a fair and transparent approach to engagement and ensuring all voices are heard when decisions are made.

“Through this draft policy, we want to ensure the community feel involved and valued, and help shape the way we engage with the community in the future.

“This is your chance to have a say on the draft policy and help inform the decisions that we make for the benefit of the community.”
