Tell Council what’s important for you to live and age well

Council is asking for feedback on what community members think is important for them to live and age well in Brimbank.

The delivery and funding of support services for older people and people with disabilities is changing.

The Australian Government is:

  • reforming the aged care service system and
  • reviewing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

With these upcoming changes we need to know how we can best support:

  • our current clients, their carers and families
  • older people and people with disabilities in the future.

At the moment Council delivers:

  • selected aged care programs to approved people over 65 years of age. These are Australian Government funded
  • selected aged care programs to approved Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people over 50 years of age. These are Australian Government funded
  • a small range of services for people with disabilities under 65 years of age who are ineligible for NDIS services. These are Victorian Government funded.

Feedback can be provided by:

• completing a survey at yoursay.brimbank.vic.gov.au; or

• attending one of the following community information sessions on:

  • 9am Monday 19 February 2024; or
  • 1pm Monday 19 February 2024.

To reserve a place for the event or for more information, email Council at:

 AgedCareProject@brimbank.vic.gov.au or call Council on 9249 4000.

Feedback must be received by Tuesday 20 February 2024.

Quotes to be attributed to Brimbank Mayor, Cr Ranka Rasic:

“With the Australian Government making reforms to the aged care service system and reviewing the National Disability Insurance Scheme, we’re asking our community to tell us what is important to them to live and age well in Brimbank.

“I invite our current aged and disability services clients, as well as their carers and families and interested community members, to provide feedback.

“Your feedback will help us decide what our role and focus should be to support our community.”
